MEN'S INTRANURAIS HOCKEY by Phillip Brown

This is a continuation of last week's colunn. As reported, this is a brief rmdown on each team. I know Some may not INTRAMU RAL agree with my report, but it is fact and H OCKEY

not fiction.

The Sophomore team "looks" like an impressive squad. Their coach, founder and player Jim Revell reported to me that his team is going to wrap up the Christmas tournament and go on to win the league championship. Unfortunately his followers did not back up their word in their first game. They lost to Mean Machine 3—2. Some key players back this year are: ? The only hope this-team has is to quit while they're ahead.

A new expansion team this year, Freshmen, seem to be in the same predicament as their counterparts, Sophomore. As a team made up up of C.G.H.S. , C.R.H.S. students and convicts they deserve some recognition. To some, especially Tony Carroll and "puppet" Kirk MacRae, this is a new experience, so with

understanding, care and good coaching this team

may make it in the 1983 playoffs.

When the Bishara Brothers did not come back this year every one thought the Business squad would be obliterated. Well, good news, Andy Butler and Fred Younker with their exper- tise in the field of organization created some— thing. So far, their record. is almost perfect, 3 wins and 1 loss. Rumor hath it that recruiting is still under way. It will be interesting to find out what Andy and Freddie have up their sleeves besides their tattoo

A team who last year could, hardly standup on their own'two feet while on the ice, they now are bursting with energy to win.

led by rookie coach Jim MacDonald, they depend on Kerry Taylor and Mr. Emyvale, "Bob Chais‘son", to take them to the playoffs. Personally, I feel that Jim should take a serious look at Willie Woofer as "the" player.

A report on Marian is being withheld until sufficient infois gathered. It appears that they are keeping us in the dark for undisclOsed reasons. .

I Blanchard is another squad who is keeping quiet. v George Nelson, player and spokesmen ' for the team, is disappointed with his team this year. The team has faced asevere draw- back with the loss of Steve Ma‘cKinnon,

Wayne Stanley, and Gerald Walker. All three were near key playerswho left because of not enough money. Hmever, George feels that the loss hurts but says there are more fish heads under the bridge. ‘

To wind up. let me tell you about the M & M! (78—79 league champions) . As yet, the team is playing with an inexperienced goaltender - Larry Ieblanc. Jim McInnis, the club's star goalie, is held-up until after Christmas. However, players such as Steel Steve Barden, Dangerous Dave Beaton, Curling stones Pete Jenkins and Doug Sear, Shivers Shane McMonaghan, Terrible Terry Palmer, cover the absence of Jim. Like Blanchard,

M & M is experiencing a drawback too.~r’7 They have lost several rough and tough players - Dave Connolly, Dave McLeod and John Dunsford - but
