on January nth 1957 the people If Souris and null districts were deeply saddened to hear of the death of J. Peter MacPhee in his 69th year. Born in Souris he spent most of his life here and was a valued employee of the J. J. Hughes Co Ldt for twenty seven years, then he opened a grocery business of his own and with the help of his wife and family this business now is one of Souris most nourishing business concerns. Peta- - er was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and took an active part In all activities. He was a mem- ber of the Holy Name Society. a Fourth Degree Knights of Colum- bus and a former State Deputy of P. E. 1. Knights of Clumbus. Peter took a keen interest in community affairs and served in the Town Council and Mayor for two years. Although ailing for some time time,' Peter bore his pain and sufferings with true ian patience and resignation pine ing his trust in his divine master who guides the destiny of all men.
