The secretary referred to the Oddfellows’ Relief association, and the grand imaster also epoke highly of the management of of the association. The following statis- tics show the strength of the order :

That paper has treated the Charlottetown young men that participated there very differently from th way the Summerside boys have in thre | past been treated in Charlottetown by the ; press and by thecs zens. On every oc | casion that Summerside has been represent- ied in Charlottetown, the repres: ntatives have been most corteously treated by every one. Charlottetown unfortunately cannot j say the same of Summersije. On several late occasions certain parties of Summer- side have not acted as geutlemen towards | Charlottetown. Whether they acted +o : through ignorance or not cannot be told, | but the fact remains that their conduct i bas not been such as to commend itself to rigbt thinking people. The resulis of the late sports at Sun _merside appear to have been too much for the good people of that town to stand, | Beaten at every contest and in every athletic sport that Summerside has competed against Charlottetown it would not have been a matter of surprise to know that the sportsmen of that place were disappointed, ‘but it is a matter of great surprise that they should allow their disappointment to develop into a lying and contemptible _re- | port which only found too ready publica- _ tion in the columns of one of their news- pspers. If the Charlottetown racers were guilty of the conduct they are here sccused of, where were the judges, and referee, nearly al] of ~hom were Summerside resi- devts? These judges, whose sympathies, Cannon, would surely eustain any protest if there were any grounds for one.
