Thirty members of the sum- meralde Home and school organ- ization have enrolled for a stand- ard first aid course. which will be conducted by Mr. J. R. Murphy, I teacher in the High school.

First aid and accident prevent- ion was featured at the January meeting of the Home and School. Over fifty members were present and saw the film "Danger is your Companion." Mrs. Harry Cud- rnore. director of Red Cross First Aid services moire to the group about the value of first aid train- ing Ind pointed out that indus-' trial firms and insurance com panies have found that first aid trained people are involved in less accident.

Mrs Dolor Richards is chair- man of the first aid committee for the Home and school and has made the necessary arrangements for this course which will be car- ried out during the next two months in the High School.

MR8. CATHERINE GOODWIN

In the early morning hours of January 13. the angel of death claimed the Soul of Mrs. Cather- ine Goodwin one of Kensingtonu oldest residents.

Mrs, Goodwin who was in her 82nd year, was in good health un- til the night before her death when she was stricken with In acute heart attack. All that med- ical skill and loving care could do was of no avail and fortified by the last rites of the Roman Cath- clic Church she passed peace- fully Iway. Mrs. Goodwin was born on the farm where her er.- tire life was spent. or I gentle loveable iepositlon she was be- loved by all who knew her.

Called upon to bear the heavy cross of losing three of her chil- dren. in three years viz Patrick. Agnes and Nellie. who were ex- ceptional students on the thres- hold of promising careers, her Christlan fortitude was most ed!- fvlng. A few years later her hus- bnmi passed to his eternal re- ward. Although advanced in years Mrs. Goodwin was quite active. attending to her own household duties and frequently helping to care for her grandchildren who cheered her declining years. Her death, coming with such short warning, was I great shock to her family and friends.

Her funeral was held January 15 to the Church of the Holy Family. Kenslngton. for Requiem High Mass, sung by her pastor Rev. Louis Callaghan. who also performed the services at the grave Interment was in Indian River cemetery.

Rock- feller Foundation. United Nations buildings, etc. In Annapolis. Mary- land, while visiting a relative. who is a student at the Naval Academy there, they had the honor of din- ing with Commander Meneke. who is in charge of the famous Annapolis Naval Base. and Mrs. Meneke. En route to Alberton Mr. and Mrs. Crewe again visit-ed briefly with their daughters in Bos- ton and Halifax. Athough Prince Edward Island is not at the height of its attractiveness in these win- ter montlis. Mr. and Mrs. Crewe are enjoying their first visit to this Province and are most favor- ably impressed by it. It is their intention to remain in Alberton for several weeks.
