The church was beauti- fully decorated and brilliantly lighted, and the aitar— with its myriad of coloured lights flowers and tapere—never Icoked better., The illustration of the crib at Bethlehem, eurmounied by the star which guided the wise mep, was also appropriately fitted up. The sermon On the occasion was preached by Father Clarke, of Boston,and it was appropriate and eloquent. Father Gau- thier celebrated the 10.30 Mass, and Rev. P. D. McGuigan delivered a splendid ser- mon. At the evening service the choir was slsoussisted by a epecial orchestra, and choice music was furnished, he congregatious at all the services were large.

Cox, who was ordained priest on the previous Sunday, celebrated com- munion for the 4irst time at 7.48 on Christmas day.
In St. Peul’s the celebrations of Holy Communi0n,at 820 and 11 o’clock well aitended. At the Ll o’clock service the music was espevially good, the solos being taken by Mrs H V Palmer, and Mesers Charles Leigh, jr, Ernest Hill, Dr Maloney and Fred Harzard. The sermon by the pastor, Rev J T Bryan, was on the subject of joy, based upon the salvation of Christ. In the afiernoon there was a children’s service with catechisiag on the life of Christ, and the little ones snnog Christmas hymns and carols. At the evening service the music was also of an especial characier. The pastor’s sermon dealt with the method of God’s revelation in the past and the method of Gis Son’s revelaticn in the last hours. All the sermons were able and eloquent. The decorations were in keeping with the jvy- ousness of the occasion.
The morning and evening services in Grace Church were well attended, and tae pastor, Rew W J Kirby, preached excellent sermons at each. At the morning service the regular choir was assisted by a choir of children, and sOme appropriate music was well rendered. Inthe afternoon the pastor addressed the children otf DSuuday School on Christmas topics; and in the eveniifg he preached the seventh of the series of sermons on ‘*Womeneof+theB ble.” The collections were all good.

A large congregation guthered at the Fort Augustus Chapel on Christmas Eve to attend the celebration of Midnight Mase for the first time at the new church. The service was deeply impressive, the church being prettily decorated and beautifully iiluminated. The music, under the direction of Mr, Daniel Me. Donald, was of s high order. An eloquent sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev. Allan J McDozald.

Mrs. Loxcgworta Deap.— Mrs John Longworth, widow of Hon John Long-
worth, departed this life on Sunday, the 25th inst, at the adwanced age of 82 years. The tuneral took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by a large concourse of mourning citizens. The pa!!-~bearers were L C Owes, Senator McDonald, H W Aitkea, H J Cundel!, Dr Anderson and F de Si C Brecken, There were impressive funeral services at St Paul’s Church and at Sher- wood Cemetery where her moria!l part was comm itted to the earth.
