Jumanji soundtrack instrumental (Sony/Epic Records)

The soundtrack to Jumanji. Nice music, but it gets repetitive. I'm suprised anyone could identify as many individual pieces as the CD claims. The music isn't too bad though, although I think it works best as background music to playing a game or reading a book. Something where you aren't paying a whole lot of attention to the music, otherwise it will get boring after a while.

The Charlatans U.K. Beggar's Banquet

Every facet of this work at first seems subtle, from the title (or lack thereof?) to the music itself. Then, you have to listen. Oddly, the Charlatans U.K. aren't often mentioned in the same breath with fellow British sensations Oasis and Blur, but this could perhaps be to their benefit. The song "Tooth- ache" may make you actually pine for a little drilling. This album is worth hearing, but only if you'll listen.

This book stinks. It looked funny, I thought it would make me laugh. Okay, I was single and desperate, and the book did not help. It is a sorry attempt at humour and a waste of trees.

If you love your underwear, you will love this book. It is 92 pages of the history of underwear, with interesting pictures and lots of interesting things to do with your underwear. My favourite suggestion is to use boxer shorts as placemats. Everyone with a sense of humour should buy this book.

A Conscious Life Fran & Louis Cox (Conari Press)

This book is a manual for becoming an adult. Most people behave grown up, say the authors, but this is not the same as being a conscious adult. This book is a journey towards this adult ideal. It is confusing and fair game for jokes. How- ever, people not satisfied with their lives could find it helpful in becoming more aware of themselves. I would recommend it for the people who find psycho-babble comforting in times of stress.

Amazing Airplanes Regan Dennis (Andrews and McMeel)

This is a great way to spend a few hours with your dad. I read the book, I made the plane, I crashed the plane -- the plane broke. Nice toy, but not worth the money.
