When the Saunders Gov- ernment was hard pressed a year ago by the Teachers Federation this pol- icy was resorted to, proving a very present help in time ol trouble, and in the outcome, remarkably success- lul in postponing the evil day still larther. Nothing is going to happen provided the teachers remain corn- pla and quiescent, until the Saunders Government go to the country illteen or eighteen ‘h

hence; then it is to be leit to their ' successors to solve the problem.

Meanwhile the Saunders Govem- ment has got an extension ot its breathing space, the teachers an ex- tension ol their "hope deterred," the taxpayers an extension ol their im- munity from "d taxation, and the Commissioners an increased rep- utation as shrewd politicians of the first water.‘
