Raddy knew he was going to catch Blacky, and Blaclry knew he was going to be caught. Neither could see how it could possibly lie other- wise. Yet both were . mistaken. Bath were to learn now foolish it is ever to be sure of anything until‘ it happens.

Raddy hiid found Blaciry in trouble. Trouble for One person may mean opportunity for an- other. It was so now, or so Roddy thought. Roddy prepared to leap once more. The other Crows flew above and around him trying to interfere yet not get caught themselves. Each w“. screaming angrily at the top o! his voice. Then, just as Roddy was getting set to leap, their cries sud- denly changed. They no longer sounded angry. They were as ex- cited as ever but joyous, What is more the black rascals were loav- ing in a hurry, scattering as they, flew.
