Dectarep A Draw.—In the Gaudaur- Teemer boat race, which came off on Fri- day last, the referee declared it a draw, and ordered the men to row again on Woods’ Run course, in the Ohio river. Gaudaur’s backer refused to agree to the terms, and the money wag returned to the men. Teemer offered to increase the stakes to $500, and row again at Woods’ Run, or any course in New York. Gaudaur refus- ed ‘The referee stated in his decision that Hamm violated the articles of agreement by pulling in Teemer’s water, when he had no right to be on the course.

A Pracricat Proarsrtionisr.—lf report be true, Father Cordeau, the French par- ish priest, now officiating in the region about the Jogygins, Cumberland County, has a practical way of dealing with the liquor question. Vinding that hebitual weakness was too prevalent in the neighbor- hood especially among the Acadian work- ingmen, and that the houses where liquor was sold were, for the most part, kept by members of his flock, he took occasion to denounce the traftic from his pulpit. He commanded the liquor sellers to close up their business within a certain specified time. As a result this perempt ry order, it is said that liquor can be had in only one house, in the large and populous parish. This establishment is kept by a man of another faith.—St. John Sun.

Orrawa, Sept. 17.
Chief Justice Armour, of Ontario, and Chief Justice Ritchie, of the Dominion ' Supreme Ceurt, express themselves in favor of a court of divorce for the Dominion.
The Governor-General and suite arrived here this morning and leave to-morrow for the North-west and British Columbia, ac- companied by Sir James Grant, His Ex- sellency’s physician, and Mr. Fred Villiers, war correspondent of the London Graphic.
The charter of the North-west Central Railway has been sold to a syndicate of Engtish capitalists, who agree to build 50 | miles of road this year, and to complete the whole as sgon as possible. The capital of the company is $10,000,000, This is the railway that Beaty and Woodworth quarcrelled over,

The Treaty Broken,
Lonpon, Sept. 16.
At a meeting at Popular to-night, Burns said the treaty with the workmen had been broken by subordinate officers ot the dock company. Some ofthe wharfingers also tried to get men at the old terms, but had failed. Unless the agreement with the men was kept, there would be. another strike.
Steamer Detained.

The steamer Earl King has arrived in port. She was detained for some days in London, and the officers set toand loaded her themselves. They were obliged to pro- tect themselves with revolvers as they worked.
