About Horses.

It seems that on the morning of the day of his death the stallion Daniel Lambert was as lively as usual, eating heartily and in every way seeming to be in the best of spirits. About 10 o'clock he was seized with what appeared to be # most violent form of mania, and for several hours plunged about his stall in the most violent manner, never desisting until death came. This occurred at 5 o’clock in che afternoon, and the struggles of the horse during those seven hours are described as being some- thing frightful. The exact cause of death is not known, no post-mortem examination having been made.

The last foal of Miss Russell, the dam of Maud S., is # bay filly by Electioneer, and is the seventeenth foal from Miss Russell, three of whose progeny—Maud S., Nut- wood and Cora Belmont—are already in the 2.30 list. It will be remembered that something over two years ago Miss Russell, together with several other mares from Woodburn, was seat to California and bred twice to Electioneer, the produce in each case being a filly. The latest arrival has not been named, but the yearling is called Rustique. Miss Russell is in good health aud apparently likely to produce several wore foals before she dies.
