Former Army Nursing Head Dies In Hospital

KINGSTON; Ont. (‘CP)—Lt. Emma F Pense, matron- in-chief of Canada's 2,000-mem her Army Nursing Service dur- ing the Second World War, died hospital! here Tuesday. She had been {n hospital for several months

iio] Pense was a nursing matron in the First World War and served most of. the war in France It was there that she was awarded the Roval Red Cross for outstanding service She was born and educated

Kincston, but received her nursing training in the United States She joined the militia in 191! and served continuously with the army nursing division from 1914 to 1942.

Among —her-—survivers jaa niece, Mrs. J. R-. Neil of Kings- ton, the former Elisabeth Pense. Canadian nursing: sister who re- ceived the Royal Red Cross dur- ng the Korean War.
