Far be it from us to ques.ion the capacity of the ad- ministration for iacreasing the population ; not having shown any marked capacity for anything elee, that may be their strong point. So far as legislation and adminis- tration ga, they “have abundantly vindi- caied the utle of their own assumption— “Flies on the Wheel.” And it is here to be remarked that ifthe fly is remarkabie for one ¢hivg more than another, it is for ihe repreduction of ite spec’es. There was also a turquoise blue straw hat trimmed on the left side of the front with wheat and white chiffou rosettes finished underneath with cream roves and ends of pale green ribben.
Next came a Duchess-shaped hat made entirely of vielets, and trimmed at the left ! side of the back with a loop of violet rivboa, an end of cream silk ribboo and a bench of cream osprey. The back was finished with a bow of green silk velvet and mig- nonette caught with steel buckles.
Atter this the reporter was shown a large white chip hat trimmed with two princess feathers, aod having a coil of pale green ribbon around the crown. There wae a bunch of cornflowers at the back with rosettes of white shirred ¢hiffon, and, underneath the fiaish was of cora—flowers
A small bonnet was next brought to his notice. This bonnet was meauJe of two fans of cream lace with white osprey aod baby tips in front, rosettes of turquoise blue ribbon at the ears, and rosettes of net ou the ties.
A white sailor hat was aleo shown. Thie had atwistof while and pale blue chiffon around the crown, two wings ef pale blue chiffon and one of white with three white quills standing at the left side of front and finished at the end with rhines stone bution.
These are only a few of the many choice things in the millinery line that was to be seen in this well~-quipped establishment. Thore who have not yet seea the goods should do 60 at ouce, for no psa can do them justice.
It may be stated in conclusion that Miss McKeiver was assisted in the show room during the two cays by Miss NecLeol, Mies L. Moore, Miss N. Toombs aud Miss B. Chappell.

Tue Lawyers on Tor.—Litigation over ahearse at Bar Harbor, after a year’s continuance, was brought to an end by an agreement between the parties that the hearse be sold and the proceeds devoted to paying costs and lawyers’ fees.
A Serious Accipent.—A correspondent of the Guardian erites: Mr. Hectcr McFadven, son of Ewen McFadyea, Esq. of St. Catherines, met with a serious and painful accident on Monday. While he was in the act of cutting down a tree his axe glancing from a twig strack him on the avkle,—almost severing the foot from his leg. Dr. Murchison of Bonshaw set the wounded limb.
