Cuba is now looking for cattle. Its live stock was destroyed tremendous y during the war, and the island is stocking up again. Heretofore South America supplied most of the cattle, but the people now want better stock. The United States has recently sent over two cargoes of 750 head each. What's the matter with Canadian cattle for this trade?

Lord Fincastle is, itis stated, te receive the Victoria Croas for his gallantry in the cavalry charge at the action of Landskai, in th Swatt Valley, 17th August. This youag soldier is the son and heir of the Earl of Dunmore, whose adventarous tastes he has inherited, although they have hitherto been mainly confined to the incidents of military duty. He is a hand- some man of twenty-six, who was serving as A. D. C. to the Viceroy of India in 1895 when the decision to send an expedition to the Soudan was taken. Lord Fincastle at once threw up his appointment at the Vicerega! Court, and volunteered for ser- vice.

Bopy Recoversp.—The boly of the late Michael Dalton, who was drowned near Pictou Island, some two months ago, was recently found on the Cape Breton shore. Mr. Thos. Reid, plasterer, who was work- ing near the place at the time, identified the remains by India ink marks upon the body, which was then becomingly interr- ed, —Pictou Advocate.
