The racing was splendid, particu- larly the 2.14 trot and pace and the 224 trot. The former was a great struggle between Addie McGrsw. 2.10%, owned by H. .1. Jewett, Pred- ericton, N. 3., who tasted her first defeat yesterday and Heatherbell, 2.10%, a. bulldog trotter who has not. lost a regular race feature since he came to this province a year ago. The lnelo fact that these two horses were to meet, together with Lucky Lindy, caused a lot of speculation and interest and was the talk among harness enthusiasts the last few days.

Addie McGraw was known to have extreme speed, but whether she could match the great gameness of Heatherbell was the question. 0w- lng to there being a doubt. of Driver Bailey's eligibility he very gracefully withdrew, and offered the mount to Driver Pat McKenna, who was so successful with I-Ieatherbell last year. There is no question that Pat's intensive teaming and stick-to- ltivness won the day for Owner Mc- Innls. Settling down he trotted fast, but Addie had opened up a long lead and entering the home stretch was two lengths to the good. Heath- arbell tried hard to shorten the dis- tance and succeeded in finishing a length behind, Lucky Lindy third. Heatherbell was set back to second position for a. gaining fircak.

Second heat-They got away on the first score, Addie setting the pace with Heatherbell tucked in be- hind. Al; the half I-lelltherbcll chal- lenged and tljlcy raced around and down into the back stretch almost on even terms. At the three-quarter pole Addie made a short break but caught quickly. They raced around tho turn with Heathcrbell on the outside of Addie, both drivers team- ing hard. when they struck the stretch driver Jewett swerved, carry- ing Heatherbell out. The race down the stretch was one that will be long remembered, both drivers team- ing for their lives, Addie being a nose to the good at the wire, Lucky Lindy two lengths back, third. The Judges after deliberating, decided that Driver, Jewcttfs break and swerve should be penalized and the heat was awarded to Hcatllerbell.

Third heat — Great excitement reigned as the horses came out for the third and f illal heat. Before they struck tlle first tum Jewett was out. 1n front, and going fast. The third heat was very easy for Mac Volo, who won by over three lengths from Johnny Miles, Al B. Jr. third, Real Great fourth and Mr. Henley fifth.

2.24 trot. This was a great race with uncertainty surrounding it alf- ter the first heat. Before that ev- erybody believed that it was a gift to May Tell, 2.19% and many ‘thought she should not be allowed in company with the others. How- ever, it just shows how uncertain racing is as May Tell did not prove nearly the factor she was expected to be. Pixie, the winner, is owned by Robert Humphrey, the famous fox show winner of Kensington, who ls receiving many congratulations from enthusiastic friends.

First heat-They got away with very little scoring and May Tell led until turning info the b01116 stretch with the others pretty well bunched. Coming down the stretch there was some real changes in positions, Squires, who was back fourth and Walkie, who was third, passed May ‘loll and Pixie and tht two had a battle royal to the wire with Pixie very close. The Judges‘ decision went to lvLr. Squires with Walkle second, Pixie third, May Tell fourth. all four horses only a few yards a.- part. A dandy flmsh.

Second heat - Pixie led almost from the word with Mr. Squires sec- ond, Walkia third and May Tell fourth. A few lengths from the wire May Tell slipped in between Mr. Squires and the pole and finished a close second to Pixie, Walkle on the outside of Squires fourth, Jollyset, who went a good heat, fifth, Baby- sot sixth and Barbara Martin seventh.
