Some eight years ago a tow ladies, rich in nothing save their charity and zeal tor religion, founded the convent b't Monaghan, which gives good hope that are long it will be bite of the largest and most flour- ishing in Ireland. No one who has not visited the convent can have any idea of the arduous duties perforated by the nuns, or of the advantages that the people at Moneghan and society in general must derive from their labours. Besidese well organized and extensive boarding school, there in a day school torthe children of the richer class, and numerously attended National schools; also a rolormatory for juvenile female offenders.
