Aiding (‘oncealing Deserters.

By the Imperial Act for punishing Mutiny and Dcscrtion, any person who shall by any means whatsoever, directly or indirectly, procure any Soldier to desert.or attempt to procure or persuade any Soldier to desert, and any person who know- ing that any Soldier is about to desert, shall aid or assist him in deserting, or knowing any Soldier to be a deserter,shall conceal sucn deserter, or aid or assist such Desertcr in Concealing himself, or aid or assist in his rescue, shall be deemed guilty of a Misdemeanor, and shall on conviction thereof, before any two Justiccs of the Peace acting for the County, District, City, Burgh or place where any such oli‘enee shall at any time happen to be, be liable to be committed to the Common Gaol or House of Correction, there to be imprisonedwith or without hard labor, for such term,not exceeding Six C.-\I.i;.vn.\u Mox'rns

By the Island Statute of .30 George the Third, cap. 3, any persons harbouring, concealing or assisting any Deserter from Her Majesty's Army, is also liable to a penalty of Twenty l’omuls.

Any Sherill‘ or his Deputy, and any constable, or Ullicer or b‘oldier in Her Majesty's service, are by the same Act authorised to apprehend any person suspected to be a Deserter, and take him belore a. Justice of the Peace.

FIVE POUNDS REWARD is by the same Act payable for the Apprehension of any such Descr- tors.
