Ethel Kendal, daughter of the fa- mous and virtuous Mrs. Kendal, is soon to appear in vaudeville.

Herbert Kelcey has gone back on he- roics and is now playing villain in ‘“*Tne Moth and the Flame.”’

Miss Elizabeth Robins will shortly present for the first time in New York city Ibsen’s ‘‘ Hedda Gabler.’’

The naugbty Yvette Guilbert is going to open in London again and try to duplicate her New York success.

Richard Mansfield promises to pro- duce ‘‘Henry V’’ next season and hopes it will produce many a V for him.

Joseph Arthur, it is said, will send ont the ‘‘Salt of the Earth’’ next season rewritten and under another name.

Walter Jones begins to star shortly, and it is said he has gone into partner- ship with Scott Hayes, a son of the late ax-president.

Wilton Lackaye will head a stock company which will inaugurate its sea- son at the Great Northern theater, Chi- cago, shortly.

Marguerite St. John will appear in vaudeville at an early date, presenting aversion of ‘‘Peg Woffington’’ and a comedietta entitled ‘‘Sally.’’

‘‘An Old Coat’’ isthe name of the latest play, and it was written bya lieutenant on ore of the ships of the white squadron, A. H. Alderdice.

It is expected that the music hall part of Olympiain New York will be opened by Oscar Hammerstein, who will! act as manager for his wife, in whose name the lease hes been secured.

The German emperor as king of Prus- sia has the sole right to name streets, and he has just refused his consent to the proposal to call two streets after the pames of Dr. Bertram and Dr. Langer- haus, two popular members of the mu- nicipal council. His majesty disapproves of such a course during the lifetime of the godfathers. This apparently refers to men of official standing only, whose political opinions might change after the streets had been named, for the Mommsenstrasse in Charlottenburg was recently passed with approval. Some new German streets have a tendency to long names. ‘‘Prince August von Wur- tembergstrasse’’ is today a name and nothing more. The houses have still to be built.
