Patent Hoors.—The following may ve found to possess some interest for our enterprising Coopers :—

A machine has lately been invented for making hoops, which bids fair to do away "th the necessity of growing hooov-poles. Any tough, straight-grained timber will iaswer the purpose. It is first sawed into quare strips, the width desired for the loop; the strips are next turneé round, kea hoe handle, and then eplit through centre. Each strip thus makes two ‘wad hoops. They are thensteamed ard ett—casks hooped with them present an ‘tra neat appearance. The whole work idone by machinery. Just previous to etting them it is necessary to wet them " eoid water. A specimen of these ‘ons was exhibited at the late State \gieu'tural show at Syracuse.—- Syracuse urna!
