Quire a sensation was created this forenoon by a drunken braw! on Queen Street. Sach a scene is rare now-a-days. But it is too bad that it should occur in a Scott Act town. We hope the Inspectors, or the Magistrate, or the Alliance, or someone, will take pains to find out where the liquor came from; and have the illicit dealer punished. Two or three months in jail would not be a bit too mach punish- ment for the man who sold the stuff which made the disturbance.

Tue Montreal, Halifax and Boston steam- ship Co's., steamer Titian, Capt. Noad, arriv- ed this morning. The Titian is an iron screw steamer, two hundred and forty feet long, thirty feet beam and 1,249 tons burden. She was built in 1870,and has since been doing good work. She has splendid accommodation for aixty-first class passengers, and is admirably fitted for a passenger and freight boat. It is the intention of the Company to run two other boats on the route between Montreal and Boston during the season. They will call fortnightly at the following ports: Montreal, Quebec, Gaspe, Percy, Summerside, Charlottetown, Pictou, Halifax and Boston. The Titian is quite a fast boat. She made the passage from Gaspe to Summerside in twenty hours, and from Summerside to Charlottetown in three hours and twenty minutes. Her captain is a young man of large experience. We wish the Company and the line of steam- ers every success.

The panellings of the saloon are of maple, rosewood and ebony, tinted in the most wsthetic manner in delicate shades. A steward (Mr. W. The vessel also has good accommodation for second-class passengers, situate’ amid-

ships. Twenty can be berthed in comfort- able style. The Bonavista (probably named after

Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland) was built to order this spring at Newcastle-on-Tyne at the Neptune Works of Messrs. Wigham, Richardson & Co., her number being 172 and tonnage 836. Her engines are of. the ‘compound surface condensing description. The higa pressare cylinder is 31 inches in diameter, the low pressure 62 inches; stroke, 42 inches. The nominal horse-power is 170, but the epgines are capable of being worked up to a greater pressure. The fur- naces are fed from six fire holes, the con- sumption of coal per day being an average of 17 tons. Mr. Richard Glass, the chief engineer; who was on the steamship Good Hope, of London, a vessel formerly trading to the St. Lawrence, pointed out to the repocter a number of the excel- lencies of the new ship. She made the run from Sydney te Montreal in three days eighteen hours, including a detention of five hours, which is considered good time. During the voyage out heavy weather was experienced, and prevented any fair trial of the engines being made. Mr. Glass, how- ever, remarked that the Bonavista would not be behind any of the St. Lawrence vessels of her size for speed.
