RUGBY, Eng, Juno 14 —The only return still outstanding from the gen- eral election was announced today with victdry of Capt. D. Margesoh. Conservative. who retained his seat with 15,159 votes. J’. Morgan, Labor, polled 11,568 votes and Robert Ber- nays, Liberal, 10.158. The Rugby elec- tlon was deferred until yesterday be- cause of the death of the Labor can- didate shortly before the dale set for the general election. , The standing of parties in the new parliament is now: Labor 289; Con- servatives 260. Liberals 58, National- ist 3, Independent 4. Prohibitions 1, total 615. '

A tabulation of the popular vote ln the general elections shows the aggregate vote was divided between the parties as follows: Conservative 8,091,052. Labor 8.331380, Liberals 5,257,536, Independents 260.111. Com- munist 50,614. The Independents in- eluds two independent Liberals‘, and two lndepe ‘rent Conservatives. Labor made the great gain in seats. a total of 10B comprising 110 from the Con- servatives 105 from the Liberals, two from the independents and one from the Communist-a.

The Liberals gained 31 seats lnclud~ ing 29 from the Conservatives and two from Labor. The Conservatives gained two from the Liberals and one from Labor and the Independents gained three from the Conservatives. The losses were: Conservatives 1-12 seats. Liberals l7, Labor 3, Independ- ent 2 and Communists 1.

Tcnhant, prominent Toronto real cs- tate broker. died last night in a police ambulance one hour and a ha]! after being taken into custody on a charge of theft of $5,000 from Dr. Albert T. Emmerson of Godar- lch, Ont. Tennant died while being rushed from Court Street police sta- tion at 6.35 p. m. to St. Michael's Hospital afzcr he had exhibited signs of illness a few minutes earlier. On arrival at Si. Michael's nothing could be done ‘but pronounce Tennant dead. The body was talten to the morgue, where an autopsy was per4 formed and was latere released for burial. Late last night it was an- nounced that the cause of death was still uncertain. An analysis of the stomach content was oydered and the result will not be known for sev- eral days. It was admitted, however, that examination o1 deceased‘; heart had shown marked signs of disease in that organ.

The Nationalists. led by General J.- B. NL Hertzog, now claim 69 seats in the parliament, and [there are only ten seats outstanding. .The South African party, which is led by Gen-l eral Smufs. have won 50 seats. The. Creswall Laborltes have won flvo ‘seats and the Councllite Laborites are conceded three. The therefore indicate a narrow but def-i inlte victory for Premier Hertzog.
