This campus is not apathetic it is PATHETIC. That is the reason

we are reprinting Dan Weiner's article "Progress Report - Committee

on Student Faculty Relations". Don't sit there blaming everyone else for your college life,

blame yourselves. Get off your God Damn butts and contribute. You

get out of this university what you put into it.

The Weiner Report shows what we must change. Think of the future

and Do It.

Starting in November, this committee undertook an informal but extensive survey of attitudes relating to the quality of student life on campus, faculty and student morale, problems of identity and role in the academic community, etc. Although numerous faculty and students were interviewed, no claim is

made that what follows is truly representative of attitudes

held within the entire University body. Nonetheless, these

tenative conculsions are worthy of examination, despite their selective nature — I believe they represent the sentiments

of the most articulate elements in our midst.

(These statements are given in no particular order of im-

portance, it should be noted.) 1. North American students "from away" unquestionably are the most socially outgoing, critical, and articulate element on

campus, despite their small number. Island students from

Charlottetown and Summerside are next, with rural Islanders the

least articulate. 2. Social cohesion, strongly associated with student morale,. is highest among female on—campus residents, lowest among male

on_campus residents. Daleplace among offncampus residences, ap~

pears to have exceptionally high morale. 3. Non—North-Amcrican students are extremely isolated,

alienated, and depressed. There are few Social outlets for them. u. In general, younger faculty are more critical of aspects

of the University and quality of students than are older faculty.
