WATER SAFETY--Water safe- ty Week was observed at Albert- on by a talk to some of the school pupils and to the W.I. District Con- ventlon. In all school classrooms information was given concerning the swimming and water safety lessons which will be given in this district July 4 - 18. There will be classes for boys and girls each af- ternoon and for adults each even- ing. Miss Martha Meyer will be instructor and the classes will be lield at Mill River. LIGHTNING STRIKES - The home of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund F. Perry. Palmer Road North. was struck by lightning last Fri- day afternoon using consider- able damage, the second such occurence in the last three years. The lightning bolt struck the cor- ner of the eve and entered the home via an upstairs window. It followed along the wall and left by a downstairs window. but in the process it ripped out the win- dow sills, set fire to the wall- paper, burned off the curtains and set fire to II carpet in the upstairs room. Mr. Perry was as- slsted in putting out the fire by Mr. Raymond Gallant. a neigh- bor who was visiting at the time, but not before extensive damage resulted.

Overflow Crovv Mission Openin

On the opening night of a week long Mission conducted by Rev. A. Frank MacLean of Trinity Un- ited Church. the Tryon United Church was last night filled to capacity with chairs being re- quired to look after the overflow. The choir under the direction of Dr. Peter MacDonald sang feel- lngly a number of inspirational hymns. The Octetle composed of Messrs George Roblee, Otto John- ston, Artie Simmonds. Arthuri MacKay. Norman MacDonald. Austin Smith. Jack Leard, and Roy Dawson added greatly to the service of song in their musical rendition of gospel IllIIIII1EI'a. Dr. Margaret MacMurdo pleased the congregation in the singing of her solo.

Rev. Mr. MacLenn began his series of addresses by emphas- izing the need of God In every life and by appropriate illustra- tions invited his hearers to rec- ognize God in their daily living.
