the New Brunswick funeral to-morrow, referred in a most touching manner to Mr. Morrow’s death. The service last raonday was presided over by Mr. Morrow, who read and expounded the 16th }*salm The same Psalm was read to-day. Mr. Gauld said that the news ef Mr. Morr) w’s death was like a paralytic thrill to his many friends in St. John, and the gloom im that city was as deep as that which spread over Halifax. He referred to Mr. Morrow's great interest in young men and the work of the Association. He drew a vivid picture of Mr. Morrow when he saw him: last in the bloom of life at Charlottetown, as the delegates to the Con- vention separated,and as the boats steamed away from the wharf he sang ‘‘ Shall we gather at the river,” and as he saw him this evening in the calm embrace of death

Toronto, Sept. 11.

The Globe, this morning has the follow- ing special cable, dated London, Sept. 10th :—The Times, speaking of the Pacific Railway bargain, says the definite settle- ment must await the assembling of the Do- mingon Parliament. It includes at length the route taken by the railroad and ex- presses the .ope. that the disbursement of the money expended on the construction of the Pacific, Railroad during the next ten years, will “improve the position of all rail- way land and industrial undertakings throughout Canada. Sir A. T. Galt, Hon. J. H. Pope and Sir John Macdonald sail on the 16th inst. I understand they ex- pect to take the signed agreement com- plete with them. I believe the minor makers of detail are referred to New York. Sir Charles Tupper remains until the 23-d jnst. in Ireland, where Is daughter lies dangerously ill.

AFGHANISTAN, Lonpon, Sept. 12.

The Viceroy ef India telegraphs that Major Me(iregor’s brigade marched from Candahar on the 8th inst. to ease the pres- gure there with regard to supplies. Gen- eral Roberts accompanies Major McCregor, and will meet Gen. Sandeman at Kala- Abdull to discuss questions relative to transport of supplies between Sibi and Candahar.

EUROPEAN. New York, Sept. 12. A eable despatch says that the Emperor of Russia returns to Livadia with Princess Dolgerack. She will consent only to a regu- lar marriage. This avowal causes a sensa- tion at St. Petersburg.

CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 12.

The Sultan has issued an imperial hatt, dismissing Kadir Pasha, Prime Minister, and appointing said Pasha, his successor. The hatt states that in view of gravity of present state of affairs and urgency of mea- sures to be taken, a change in ministry is necessary and expresses the conviction that Said Pasha will be able to effect satisfac- tory the solution of pending questions. The Cabinet has been reconstructed as fol- lows: Server Pasha, President of Council of State, in place of Aarifi Pasha; Assini Pasha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in place ef Abeddin Pasha; Nazif Pasha, Minister Pious foundations; Raif Pasha, Minister of Commerce, in place of Kadir Pasha, who held this ministry in conjunetion with the Premiership ;: Kiamel Pasha, Minister of Public Instruction, in place of Munif Ef- fendi. Other ministers retain their present positions.

At Atlanta, [. T., on Friday, an Indian was executed for the murder of Mrs, Wash- ington, ayear ago. A spot was made on the prisoner’s bared breast, and the prison- ers cousin, who was chosen executioner, fired the ball true to the mark. Dixon’s head fell forward on his breast and he ex- pired without a struggle.

The President and party visited the Me- chanic’s Pavilien last night, when fifteen thousand people were present. The Presi- dent and General Sherman were warmly greeted, but they did not address the audi- ence, on account of fatigue.

auchor in this harbor yesterday in a heavy gale. To prevent fouling another vessel slipped her chains and ran ashore on the west side of the harbor. She lies high on the beach. San Francisco, Sep. 12.

A committee of settlers from Fresno County and Musselsboro Region, Tulare County, waited upon President Hayes yesterday. They stated that the object of their visit was to present him with an ad- dress, setting forth the true histery of the recent strife between them and Southern Racific Railway Co. They ask his careful consideration of the document and asked him to visit Hanford so that he might see people who transfermed desert lands in that section with preductive farms and convince himself that they were not outlaws. They stated that they considered evictions un- just and cruel, as a question as to who were properly entitled to possession of lands was now pending before United States court. The President received the address and he replied he would do all he could consist- ly for the cause of the settlers.
