According to the Chicago Times Unior, the glut in the horse market has left 125,- 000 of these noble animals roaming about the prairies of North Dakota, Montana, etouthern Idabo and Washington. There is no demand for them and they are eating the grass that belongs to the cattle and rheep. The introduction of electric cars redaced the demand for the animals so much that the shipment from thease west- ern ranches to the East and middle States On one railroad alone dropped from 10,800 a year to less than 2,000, One rancher near Walla Walla, Wasningtno, lias 3560 horses and would be glad to bunch them off as $10 a head, although he claims that they are bred from high priced stock. “H. M.S. Majestic—At sea, Tuesday, July 28th.--I deeply regret to have to record the death by drowning of two officers of the Hermione—the first lieutenant, Mr. Angustus R.C. Warren, andthe senior assistant engineer, Mr. John P. Good.
