UPEI Women's Rugby End Season Undefeated

The UPEI Womens Rugby team finished their league play with Ist place standing, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers in a closely matched game with a final score of 10 - 7.

The semi-finals were held at Mt. Allison on October 24th where the panthers were matched against NSAC.

Despite losing one of their key players Becca Viau due to

injury during the previous game vs. Dal, they downed the Nova Scotia Agriculture College with a final score of 40 - 0.

Jessica MacDonald, Shelley MacNeill, Michelle Young, Kati McCarvill, Krista Myers, Lauren Sinclair, Laura Deighan and Amanda Hood each had a try bringing yet another victory to the Panthers' already impressive col- lection.

The Panthers who are unbeaten in league play will be hosting the Dalhousie Tigers in the Championship game this weekend at date and location to be announced. Both teams are out for the championship and with the two equally matched team, it will prove to be a very interesting game.

There will be signs posted at the Sports Center when the information is made available.

UPEI Women's Field Hockey Proving PEI Proud

The UPEI Women's Field Hockey were on fire at St. Mary's on Saturday defeating the UNB Varsity Reds in a hard fought game with a final score of 3-2 in the AUS semi-finals.

The Championship game was held at 10 am on Sunday morning and the Panthers battled hard to come to a 3-1 final score for the Huskies. Ambyr "The Wall" Gallant worked tough with the pan- thers to keep the score at 2-0 at the half, stopping a penalty stroke given to the Huskies with only sec- onds remaining in the first half.

The Huskies brought the score to 3-0 during the second half

but the relentless Panthers battled back having the last goal of the game scored by Nicloe Wagner from a penalty corner.

The Women's Field Hockey team had a great showing this sea- son being a dominant contender and will be out for blood next year to down the Huskies and any other team that trys to step into their way.

Our male athlete of the week goes to the humble goaltender of the panthers hockey team, Jason Flick. Jason recorded two huge wins for the pan- thers this week against SMU and also a shutout against St. FX helping them get back to an even

2-2 record.

Once again the brightest star for the women this week glows in the shape of Ambyr Gallant. Not only did the fifth year veteran lead the panthers to the AUS Finals, the netminder even scored an important goal on a penalty shot against UNB in their semi-final match up.
