a copy of the agreement between the Gov- ernment and the owner of the steamer, tog-ther with a statement showing the amount of the subsidy agreeed to be paid, the amount actually paid, the amount with heldand the reason for withholding the same. Hoo Mr Warburton, ip reply informed Mr. McKinnon that there was a dispute about the contract, but he would be able to give the information asked for in a few Later on he intimated that the cons tract had been let for $1000, that there was a dispute with thecontractor which had been settled and that a sma!lsum had been with held with which the contractor was satis- fied. But the copy of the agreement asked for was not tabled, neither was a reason given for witholding any part of the con- tractor’s money. The question therefore remains uvanswered.

Our trade at the station since October last has been in excess of any time for years past.

A large number of cattle ard sheep have been bought shipped from St. Peters and Morel! by our butchers, Messrs Brown ard others.

A quantity of wood also came from that part io York.

Several carloads of oats aud potatoes have been lought and shipped by Mr. T. H. Lawson, for Charlottetown. A quantity of coal and other merchantdize Shas come from Charlottetown.

The business transacted in the store owned by T.H. Lawson has increased greatly during the last twelve months.

It is hoped that our trade is such tha the Government will see fit and be induce to return to us the telegraph and bouking stat'on which was taken from us ‘som- years ago.

Our school is progressing satisfactorily under the tuition of Mr. Robertson and Mis~ Deacon.
