My name is Peter Grandy and I am the VP of activities with the Student Union. There have been a number of concerns brought to me concerning the Halloween Pub on Saturday the 30th of October. First, there were a number of students who were told that they would not be able to get into the pub and to go home. I would like clarify that no one from the Wave staff ever said to anyone that they could not get in if they had a real ticket. There were people refused at the door, but these were for reasons such as having a fake ticket or simply being too drunk. The line was held up for a period of time and we apologize for any inconven- ience this may have caused. Please understand this took place for a num- ber of reasons, such as: a number of people were unprepared to present their ID and tickets at the door, everyone was in costume making it more difficult to identify people, and a number of forged tickets were presented. The Student Union and the Wave staff would like to sincerely apologize for those who were inconvenienced and didn't get into the event. If you still have a real ticket, please drop it off to the Student Union for a full refund. You have until Friday the 12th of November to claim a refund. I hope everyone understands the difficulty in managing an event of this magnitude and steps will be taken in the future to avoid the mentioned problems. established - that no one would be exploited for their unusual talents, maladies, or deformities, and that they would be hired as performers, not freaks. The show quickly grew to include rides and museums of oddities and sideshow memorabil- ia. With a grin, Nikolai informed me that most the artifacts that are part of the current show and dis- play are grand antiques, and that he refuses to sell them to anybody. Carnival Diablo is one of the last shows of its kind, and one of the more unusual forms of entertaining that has yet to grace the stage of the Student Centre, at least since Vanilla Ice. It is odd, and perhaps a little morbid, but certainly an excellent and unique look at a form of entertainment that was once widespread around the world. Plans are in motion for

an enormous museum to be built in Niagara Falls, featuring a histor- ical look at the sideshow and its unique people and artifacts. The group will continue to tour and promote their cause of keeping the tradition alive and providing audi- ences everywhere with a very cre- ative and entertaining bang for their buck. They definitely achieved that at UPEI, and hey, where else can you see a guy pound a nail up his nose other than at that drunken house party at the end of the semester?
