CANADA EMPLOYMENT CENTRE ON CAMPUS

As manager of the Canada Employment Centre, I would like to welcome you to campus! I hope that the year ahead will turn out to be all that you have hoped for and more. My name is Connie Egan and my assistant is Madeline Lannan: We are located on the first floor of Main Building in the Student Services area adjacent to the Career Information Centre. Our office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We are here to help you with your job search whether it be looking for part-time, summer or full-time work. A series of in- formation sessions are planned for October. They will be aimed at various aspects of the job search and how to do it most effectively.

Graduating students should register with our office early. Some of the services offered include:

— Job Search technique sessions.

— Information and application forms on provincial and federal goverment employment pro- grams ‘

— The on-campus recruitment program which organizes em- ployers’ visits to campus by scheduling employers’ recruit- ing dates, posting job informa- tion, sending all student appli- cations to the employers for pre-screening purposes, and arranging the interview sche- dules.

— Preparation for interviews and where appropriate, arranging for a practice interview pro- gram (videotape ‘‘mock”) to help you polish your interview skills

Again this fall national recruiters will be visiting the campus to interview graduating students. It is important that these students register early and complete a UCPA (University and College Placement Association) registration form. These forms can be picked up at our office. While many of the firms are looking for Business Administration graduates, many welcome students from other disciplines.

A list of recruiters who are coming on campus or accepting applications for consideration is available at the Canada Employment Centre, Main Bldg. Graduates who wish to be considered for these MUST have their UCPA Application form completed and returned to this office by deadline dates. The following job opportunity is now open: Assistant to the Residence & Conference Manager — Duties are to assist the Residence and Conference Manager with all aspects of the operation.
