Tuene will be an evangelical meeting held in the Presbyterian Church at Mount Stewart,on Monday evening, 6th August, at 7) o'clock, at whith addresses will be delivered by Rev. Messrs. Patterson, Dr. Murray, Alex. McLean, Neil McKay and A. FP. Carr. It will be necessary for mem- bers coming by train from the West to be forward by Monday afternoon. This can be done by taking the 11 o’clock train from Summerside which connects at the Royalty Junction with the daily train for Mount Stewart.

Sripenpiany Macistratr’s Court.—The eases of Alexander McCannell, George Drew, David Stanley and James Offer, for carrying firearms on the 12th imet., were disposed of yesterday morning. McCan- nell. Drew and Stanley were held to bail on their own recognizance and the sum of $200 each to appear before the Magistrate on the 27th of August next, for his decision in the matter. Prosecution in the case of James Offer was withdrawn. Archd, Ram- say, for the same offence, and who was re~ ported in yesterday’s proceedings as on biil for Supreme Court, was also held for decision on 27th August.

Tue Grand Division quarterly session passed off very pleasantly at West River the day before yesterday. Several mat~ ters of important interest to the cause were brought forward and disposed of, These will hereafter be made public. The publics meeting in the evening was well attended, Addresses were given by Councillor Harris, G. W. P., who occupied the chair, J. B. Cooper, G. 8S.; J. J. Chappell, P. G. S.; John Sellar, P. W. P.; and Councillor Millner, P. G. W. P. teadings by J. W. Hodgson, W. P. Recitations by Bros, Carter, Clow, and Edwards. Suitable temperance singing was interspersed throughout. In tone and character this meeting was & model tem- perance meeting. ‘The Annual Session of Grand Division convenes in Charlottetown nWctober next.

An {mportant Sort ror $2.50.—A case of considerable interest was tried last Monday at Chatham. Mr. Alex. Morrison sued Judge Peters, of P. E, Island, for $2.50. amount paid for a deed which he alleged should not have been charged him. A verdict was given him after a lengthy trial. —St, John Telayraph.

Sommersipe.—Our correspondent made a mistake in stating that the Island boat was behind in the race with the Secrel. We are informed that the St. Lawrence left Shediac a few minutes in advance of the Secret, kept the lead, and arrived in Sum- merside a few minates before the steamer in chase. The Secret, we may remak, has the reputation of being one of the fastest boats plying in the Gulf,
