The quality of the leather turned out by the Messrs Love is of the best deecriptio: , and those who use it are well pleased. It may be mentioned im this connection that the firma have a standing order from one of the largest boot and shoe mavufacturing coneerns in the Vominion and each week a shipment ir made to them.

Speaking of the state of trade Mr. Love informed Tae Examiner that the price of

Oue ot the extensions made by the Meesrs. Love is called a beam house,and it is set apart for the preparing of hides for the tan. The capacity is 300 hides a week. Atthe present ime however ihe demand does not cal] for that number, and the outpvt is about 100 per week. The equipment consists of esluah and beie} wheels, with a steam pump for supplying | water. There are alo oine large vats. Che hides are put through the slush wheel three different times while being made ready for the tan. While in lime the hides are conveyed from one vat to another by means of a reel. All the waste water about the beam bouse as well as every other part of the building is carried off by sewers.

yard, is also newly built. Here there are | three leaches «et on top of what ie termed a cooler. These leaches are for holding the ground bark, which is brought from the berk~- rcom alongside by meaos of elevators and a spiral screw conveyer. This

bark is deposited in any one of the leaches desired. Then hot water is forced into the leaches and distributed as required by means of asprinkler. This water passes through the barkin the leaches and thence into the cooler below. rom the cooler the tan liquor formed is drawn off into the tan-yard as needed. Inthe tan-yard a systemof spouting ie so arranged ‘that this liquor can be drawn intoany vat de sired. In the curryivg root there is a aplitting machine, a brush whrelanda combined glassirg, rolling and pebbling jack. The stufliog loft contains a stuffing wheel and everything else needed in the stuffing of leather. There is also a rack with frames for stretching the leather. The maebinery is driven by a 40~borse~ power boiler and a 25-borse-power engine. ‘he walls and floor of the engine room are brick. The throughout is by slieam.
