O’Keefe boycott at

Concordia may

be over

Montreal (CUP) The boycott of Carling O’Keefe beer at Con- cordia may be short- lived,

The Concordia stu- dent council voted to boycott O’Keefe prod- ucts last January be- cause of the company’s ties to South Africa.

But Rothmans Cananda_ Inc., which owns 50.1 per cent of O’Keefe and is partially owned by the Rem- brandt Group, a South African. corporation, is

selling its interest in O'Keefe.

per cent control of O’Keefe. If the sale is finalized and the new owners are clean of fi- nancial ties to South Africa, motion will be presented to Concordia council board members to end the boycott.

Council co- president Scott White said they will wait un- til the sale is completed before holding a vote to end the boycott.

“Assuming there’s nothing wrong with the new company, a mo- tion will be presented and the boycott will be over,” he said.
