Last week, in a televised interview, widely reported in the press, he was understood. to have said that the alternative would be “independence.” But later Mr Johnson said this word must have-been taken out of its con- text. What he really meant was_that one. way of driving Quebec out of | Confederation was to-continue “the attitude that Ottawa is taking, and
