Who Wrote the Bible?

Moses wrote Genesis, Exodus, Leviti- cus, Nambers and Deuteronomy.

Joshua, Phineas or Elizaer wrote the book of Joshua, but it is not certain which of them.

Samuel is the penman of the books of | Judges aod Rath. He also wrote the first acts of David, and probably Nathan

nd Gad wrote his last acts; and the vhole was formed into two books which were named after Samuel as the most eminent person, called the first and second books of Samuel.

Jeremiah most probably the two books of the Kings.

Ezra compiled the two books of the Chronicles. He is also author of the book bearing his name

Nehemiah wrote Nehemiab.

The author of the book of Jisther is unknown.

Elihu was most probably the penman of the book of Job. Moses may have written the first two chapters and the

The Tailor and the Masher.

“Will yon pay me this bill, sir?’ said a tailor in Regent Sireet, London, toa gentle masher who owed him a pretty long bill.

Railway Mileage.

The railway mileage of the United Siates is greater than that of all Kurope, being 128,492 miles at the present time, while that of Europe does not exceed 120,000 miles. The railway mileage of the world is placed at 300,000 miles, one-half of which is on this continent, Canada having12,000 miles of railway, and mexico and the Central American states about 7,000 miles, The Dominion railway system is exceeded in length by that of only five Huropean couhtries, Germany, France, Great Britsiv,’ Russia and Austria, and in another two years the mileage of Canada will surpass that of Austria.

Another Comet.

The comet discovered by Brooks the day after last Christmas is bright enough to be observed with the aid of

avery moderate sized telescope, but must be looked for soon after dark, as itesets early in the evening. Its

daily motion is approximately 1° eastward and 3° northward. It has « bright nucleus, but a very short tail. :
