We are pleased tolearn that our young friend, Wm. 8. Stewart, of Peters & Peters, has passed a highly creditable examination, and has been duly admitted as an Attorney of our Supreme Court. In the spring of 1875 Mr. Stewart graduated in Arts in MeGill University, taking off the Ulassical Gold Medal of his year. Since that time he has been a dilligent student in the ottice of Peters & Peters of this city, has now passed the above named creditable examination, and we predict for him a bright and successful career.

Drowwen.—-A sad case of drowning oc- curred at Rollo Bay, one day last week. A young man about seventeen years of age, named Chaisson, sop of the late David Chaisson, after his days work was over, went Lathiog at the mouth of the harbor, Not returning, bis friends became alarmed, went in search, but f-iled to find him until the fol- lowing morning, when his lifeless body was discovered in a deep hole, near the end of the old Breakwater. Poplar Grove Notes.
On Sunday evening, the 8th instant, the Rey. Mr. Archibaid, Baptist Minister, preached an excellent. sermon to a large audience in the school-house. He took for his text Corinthians I., chap. 3. In chaste and elegant language he dealt some hard blows against all sinners, but especially those who use the intoxicating eup.
Oa Friday evening last a large bear en- tered the garden of James Henderson, J. P., our most efficient and obliging post- master. Mr. Henderson and some of his faroily were about; but a boarder, named Joha Jelly, hearing a terrific noise, went out, armed with an axe, and, with the assistance of three dogs, succeeded in driv- ing the animal away. A number of our young men are turning their attention to the best means of giving him a speedy tran- sition from this sphere.
Poplar Grove is the name of a thriving little settlement situated midway between Ellerslie and Conway, on the lines of Lot | lland 12. It was,a few years ago, almost uninhabited, but to-day it has a Sunday School, and oceasional preaching.
