With his usual disingenuousness, Mr. Pope mutilates the Warrant issued in Mr. Coles’s case in 1854, by suppressing the fact that on the first sheet it was addressed to Mr. Coles himeelf, and the address t&) the Governor General was merely au endorsement on the back of it. Mr. Pope is well aware that this Warrant was a coafirmation of Mr. Coles’s appoint- ment, just the same as bad been sent out for Mr. Francis Longworth and Mr. Henry Haszard.

Mr. Pope reiterates the old slander that the members of the late Government were incompetent for the diseharge of their Executive duties “‘ by reason of their want of education.” After this we shall be prepared to be told that all the members of the present Government are prodigies of learning—that in particular the Hon.
