By Joseph E. Dyna PARIS. (AP)-French officials said Tuesday night Premier Pierre Mendes-France and German Chan- cellor Konrad Adenauer have made some progress toward settling the future status of the industrially rich 9aar.

Then. after nearly eight hours of mnferences with the French pre- mier, Adenauer returned to his hotel late Tuesday night and dra- matelcally summoned leaders of his government coalition parties i0 advise him. They were expected to arrive within 48 hours.

The chancellor himself heads the Christian Democrats. Also in the toalition are the Free Democrat party, the Refugees party. and the German party.

The French were reported to have proposed a. broad and far- ieaching economic accord with West Germany which would reduce the Saar problem to a relatively minor position. One French source tiled exploration for oil in the Sahara desert as the sort of pro- J4-ct the French and Germans might undertake together.
