The significance of the move on the part of the London furriers in buying almost a. million dollars worth of silver fox and blue fox from the Norwegian Fur Breeders Association, has not yet been ful- ly realized in New York, or at least we have not seen any men- tion of it in Women's Wear Daily, but when it is there is no doubt that it will make a tremendous difference in the viewpoint of many dealers and manufacturers there. London has been the centre of the fur trade from time immem- orial, from the days when two ships were sent out by the Gentleman and Adventurers. who afterwards became the Hudson's Bay Com- pany. That was in 1671. World War II caused London's position to be taken over by New York City but London has been making great progress with its fur connec- tions since and if exchange would only loosen up and the French embargo lifted there is no ques- tion that a strong market would exist there.
