Six,—Having been asked by Mr. Robert Mooney, to give a statement of facts in connection with what is known as “‘Bowers’ attack on Protestants at the Byrne’s Road Meeting.” I cheerfully comply.
I need hardly state further than that Mr. Mooney’s vorsion is strictly correet. Mr. Bowers made a malicious attack upon Protestants, which 1 think Mr. Bowers himself will not deny. But to the credit of the independent people of Byrne's Road, they, almost to a man, expressed their dis- approval of Mr. Bowers’ conduct in trying to stir up sectarian feeling among the elec- tors,

SCOTT ACT TRIALS.

Srr,—Proceedin_s have commenced in the Police Court against seven offenders, viz— Dovaid Campbell, Daniel Noonan, William Watters, David Grady, Michael. B. Connick, George Muttart, and Patrick Keeffe, Michael B. Connick was tried this ing avd fined fifty doilars-~first offence. Keeffe and Mut- tart were fined one handred dollars each— second offence. The others will be tried on Tuesday, and, jadging from the evidence available, they will probably share the same fate. When these cases are di of, pro- ecedings will be taken against our offenders.
Judging from t appearances, liquor selling can y prove a paying business in Summerside.
I furnish these facts for the encouragement of the friends of the Seott Act, throughout the Provinces.

Over the signature of ** Neil Myers,” a man who can neither read nor write, there ap- peared a letter in the New Era, in which there was nothing from beginning to ead but a tissue of falsehoods. This Neil Myers claims to be a *‘sensitive Protestant.” Oh, what a Prot stant! Has he ever been to a Protestant Charch? What Church does he belong to, and when did he join the Church ? lf the truth were known, it would be found he is a ‘* Nothingarian.”
Ithink, Mr, Editor, that instead of pub- lishing Myers’ letter, Mr. Bowers should have been more honest and owned up like a man.

In the contest for the Kolapore Challenge” Cup the Canadiam team were defeated by the home team by 16 pointsonly. They in turn have the satisfaction, however, of defeating the Jersey and Guernsey teams. The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Canadian camp and Her Royal Highness pinned the badge upon the breast of Lieut. Mitchell, of the 32nd Batt., the fortunate winner of the Prince of Wales’ prize.
The North Carolina church-goer whe sang so loudly and discordantly in church as to annoy other worshippers, and was indicted as a nuisance, has won his case. China is something of a country. It has four hundred canals, equal to all the rest in the world.
