MacDonald and Mrs. MacDonald was united in marriage to Mr. Percy Wood of SouthporLThe cere- mony was performed iby Rev. H. Pierce of Pownal, in the presence of a number of relatives and friends of the contracting parties. Mr. and Mrs Wood who have the best wishes of a host cf friends. will reside in Southport where the groom is a prosperous farmer. The /brlde was the recipient of many pretty and valuable gfts.

PRESENTATION — On the ev- ening of April 27th. about 60 of the good people of Pleasant Valley Methodist congregation gathered at the parsonage to spend the ev- ening with their pastor and his wife. ‘Mr. John H. Weeks was ap- pointed chairman and s. short pro- gram was given. Then -Mr. Geo. S. IMIcLeod read an address to Mrs. Geo. Ayers of appreciation for her services in the different depart- ments of church work, and Mr. Thos. Bertram, on behalf of the people presented her with a well filled purse. Though taken 'by surprise, Mrs. Ayers thanked the friends in a few words for their kind expressions of appreciation. A dainty lunch was served by the visitors, which all enjoyed. The pastor and his wife are encourag- ed Iby the many words of appre- ciation and deeds of kindness ex- tended to them from time to time by the pecrple of the circuit.

Missionary work in Egypt was given in St. -Pa.ul’s Church lea: evening by Miss Harris of Cairo, Egypt, who is visiting this coun- try under the auspices of the Church Mlissionaary Society. Miss Harris who is the daughter of a Canadian clergyman has been en- gaged in missionary-work irnr Egypt since 1904 and is a good speaker who tells of the work being ac- complished n that country in n very ‘interesting manner.
