Extensive preparations are being mde in this neighborhood to prosecute the lobster fishing From fifteen to twenty factories are expected to bein full operation along this shore in a few weeks, which will give employ- ment to hundreds of young men and women durirg the fishing season, and it is hoped that this industry will prove mere remunerative to all concerned, then it did last year, The farmers are b preparing their seed, grain, etc., tor the spring labor. The Road Supervisor has made an early atart this year in looking after the ruts, What's up’ A number of bands and teams have been engaged ia quarrying ind hauling atene. Neglected portions of the highway will, no doubt, be put ia good shape, as con- si ‘erable travelling is anticipated during the ensuing electioneering season. This com mendable object reminds one of the following somewhat appropriate lines :— “The politician in his rouads

We have had our pulpit supplied for the last four Sundays, very pleasingly, by Rev. D. McIntosh, of She burne, N. 8. Mr, McIntosh leaves us this week. Next Sun- day week, Rev. Mr. Gillis, of the other side of the harbor, will preach for us. There has been 4 great deal of skirmish- ing in Cambridge over school matters. A schovlhouse is being built, and eome of the ratepayers are secking to have it ona new site and in & more central place. They want ic cff the Corner and down Graham's Road a few iiundred yacds. The secretary, Mr. A. Higginbotham, kas about all he can attend to in keeping order. Murray Harbor has gone trotting mad. On Saturday we enjoyed another trot, of which, quoting Sir Thomas More, we might exclaim : ‘Verily, this ia s more wonderful song than t’other..”” There could have been no jess than a thousand spectators. Neil McDonald was the enterprising manager. A free-for all for a purse of three dollars was taken by a McLaren horse from Bradenell. Mr. Wm Prowse came in second; Mr. Denald Ross, of Lower Montague, third, on one of the pluckiest, gamiest, neatest little mares we have seen for a long time. It will repay Mr. Ross to practise her, for there is ‘‘go” in her and she is a daisy. In the green race John McHerron pocketed first money. Between his horse and Samuel Butler there was a terribly keen ecrimmage, much amus- ing the immense crowd. We her of another race for Friday, the Slst.
