Final events of the Saint John program were a civic dinner at the Admiral Beatty Hotel and reception of more than 400 citi- zens.

For the dinner and reception. the Princess wore a crinoline gown of oyster satin with silver bead skirt embroidery, n diamond tiara, diamond necklace and the dark blue ribbon. with star. of the Order of the Garter.

After remaining overnight in this area. the royal train will continue to Nova St-olia tomor- row. with Itons at Monctnn and Sackville in New Brunswick and Amherst and Trim: in Nova Scofia before an afternoon arriv- al at Halifax. The tour will he comnietcd next Monday at Por- tugal Cove. Nfld.

Auriol Urges Big Foutlteeiing a

PARI3. Nov. 6 -(AP)-President Auriol of France called today for a. personal. man-to-inan meeting of President Truman. Prime r'iri- ister Churchill and Prime Minister

Stalin in Paris during the sixth U. N. General Assembly "to re- duce the disagreements which

paralyze the world." .

It was assumed Aurlol intended France to be represented also as host country.

Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Vishinsky received Auriol's re- marks cautiously, with an indi- cation Stalin would wait to see if a formal bid comes from the West.

At the end of the first semion of the Assembly, Vlshinsky told a. re- porter:

"It is necessary to communicate with the four involved. The three should arrange it with the one."

Auriol spoke earnestly in mak- ing his personal plea for s. new start toward an understanding which would ease world tension.

There were two other surprises at this first session of the new assembly. These were:

1. The election of it veteran U. N. diplomat, Ambassador Luis Padilla Nervo of Mexico, to the presidency of the assembly on the first secret ballot. He succeeds Nasrollah Entezam of Iran. Padilla Nerve received 44 voles Victor Andres Belaunde of Peru. not nine votes and Adolfo Costa Du Rels of Bolivia six. One of the: U. N. members did not vote.

Until today the British dele- gation had plumped for Canada's External Affairs Minister, L. B Pearson. for assembly president. However Pearson said he was not 3 candidate.

The executive .seem to have everything under control and the administration was run with fine efficiency. Mr. Shaw commented. The night show has gfbatly im- proved. The horse classes. Jump- ing. saddle and standard-bred were particularly attractive and a great advancement has been made in improving the horse show at this exhibition since the war.
