Just before the sun sank to rest fo the blue waters of Ontario last nignt persons along the lake front and from lower bridge wiiuessed one of the most beautiful and raest phenomena wit- nessed in this climate-—a muraze. lt was first discovered shortly atte! T o’clock. The Duck and Galloup is ania, the entrance to Kingston har bor, masts of vessels, and what appeared to be buildings like fortifications hung suspended in the sky.

It was a remarkable picture and was witnessed for more than half an hour by hundreds of people, and then gradu- ally faded away. Records of such phenomena are not kept, and data re garding them on Lake Ontario are avi to be had. That of last evening, 10w ever, is said to have been clearest ané most distinct seen in many years from Oswego.
