Invalided Canadians.

Toronte, May 2.—The special cable trom London says: ‘he Canadians invalided home from South Africa and now in Netley hospital are al! well with the exceptionjof Pte. F. E. Weir, of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Toronto, who 18 confined to bed with enteric fever. All complain of the tardiness on the part of the authorities at Ottawa in making arrangements regarding their return either to Africa or Canada. They also com- plaiv that the doctors ai Netley are mostly students, the beet doctors having been sent to the front.

Foot and Mouth Disease.

LivercooL, May 2.—Two cattle boats from the Rio de Ja Plata, with four hua« dred bullocks and two hundred sueep, arrived inthe Mersey yesterday, all the animale being affected with the foot and mouth disease. Although the order prohibiting the importation of South American cattle came into operation to day, the board of agriculture permitted the landing of the animals, which were immediately slaughtered, their -heade and feet being busied at sea.

Jamestows, St. Helena, May 2.—The British auxiliary transport Bavarian has arrived here from Capetown with 1,099 Boer prisoners. Al! are in excellent health. They will be landed as quickly as porsible, although the wharves are | blocked with stores owing to the insuffi- cient transport inland.
