The regular meeting of the New London w.I. met at the home of Mrs. Fred Maclilwen on Dec. lath.
Meeting opened by singing "Sil- ent Night" followed by repeating the Creed. Roll call was answered by ten members with an exchange of Christmas gifts. Minutes of last meeting were read. approved and signed and it was decided to leave blankets on hand at present to see it they could be sold. Proceeds from concert was 362.15, expenses )il.50.
It was decirir-d to give donations to the 1.3. League, Orphanage. Red Cross. and Save the Children Fund this year. -'
Sick committee reported no calls made and school reported towels. scan and toilet paper needed. New
school committee is Mrs. Lorne Campbell and Mrs. Leigh Mac- Ewen.
Correspondence consisted of let- ters from Red Cross, First Aid Course. a thank you card. and Farm Radio Forum Bills were on mn- '-ion ordered paid.
Mrs. Ross MacEwen was ap- pointed as the new Vice-Presid-
ent. It was decided to treat the school children to apples and candy at Christmas; also to re- member two shut-ins with boxes.
The program consisted of a paper on "Winter meals for the Family" read by Mrs. George Cole.
Next meeting is to be held at the ,
home of Mrs. Don Macliwen when roll call will be answered with re- cipe for a supper dish, Collection 31.20; membership .70c.
Meeting closed with "The Kins" and lunch was served by.the host- ess and committee in charge.

What bird starts your list for the new year? Of course it de- pends largely upon whether you live in a city. a small town, or a country district. But unless you reside in a closely-built, treeless section. you may wake up to see a small Brown Creeper on the trunk of your big elm, or find a flock of bright. raspberry red Pine Grosbeaks feeding on the seeds of your mountain ash.
Should your grounds be sur- rounded by a thorny hedge. a Sh--ike may be attracted there. to hang its kill on the pointed books. A home set amidst evergreens. not too far from our southern border, is a choice spot for Goldencrowned Kinglets. These tiny birds. travel- ling in flocks, eat insect eggs and set-tn not to mind cold and snow.
Suppose you are hemmed In by buildings. there are some birds you may quite possibly see. and others ins: your eyes are certain to rest on. But will you notice them - sce them with your mind? Could you adcquately describe our three. imported. but now year-round re- sidents, which, considering that they predominate. most likely came into your line of vision the very first day of January?

At the conclusion of the in- stallation ceremonies. Mrs. Hay- ward, W. W. D., presented Mrs. Edith Davis. the retiring Worthy President with a Past President's Jewel. This was followed by Mrs. Davis. presenting Mrs. Hayward with a suitable gift as I remem- brance of her visit to Queen Eliz- sbcth Lodge.
After -several of the officers and members spoke a few words, the Worthy President called on Mrs. Hayward who gave an in- teresting talk on the work being carried out in the order. The evening was brought to a close with a delicious lunch being serv- ed by the refreshment commit-
tee. This was highlighted by the committee carrying in I gaiiy decorated birthday cake as the
members joined in singing "Happy Birthday" to Miss Myrtle White, who was completely taken by sur- prise.
