A Hanpsome Booxter.—Mr M J Keat- ing, the painstaking and energetic press representative of Keith’s Boston Theatre, has our thanks for an artistically arranged and elegantly priated booklet descriptive of Mr Keith’s well-known aad popular theatres in Boston, New York, Philadel- phia and Providence, with special refer~ ence to the Boston enterprise which ia so happily termed “the model playhouse of the country.” The booklet is replete with valuable information regarding the various theatres, and the illustrations are of the best description. Keith’s theatre is one of the sights of Boston, and no visitor should roiss it. During the summer a good many Charlottetonians have been shown through this elegantplay house and all were charmed with the arrangements. Besides the at- tractions of the house iteelf the perform- ance is always highly satisfactory, none but top-notchers in the proteasion being engaged. When in Boston by all means give Keith’s acail.

Mr. Cox’s New Quarters at Souris—

Improvements Made. MrBC Cox, proprietor of the Sea View Hotel, has just moved into his new quarters, that large store and dwelling

formerly occupied by Mr. W. L. Sterns. During the last three months the firm of Dingwell & Dingwell has had a small army of men remodelling aod adding to the already spacious building, and to day it can hardly be recognized ' :

Un the southside a» veranda has been added ruoning the length of the main building facing the adja:ent lot which will be used as alawn. There are three entrances, the ladies and side entrance to otfice and main entrance in front routing on Main Street is the office and reading room, 32ftx20, with plate glass frout and fitted up with all the require- meuts Of & modern hotel. On this flat are also parlors 24x20 ft, dining room 40x x20 ft, four bedrooms, carving room and kitchen, A hall rans from tbe offize to the lobby at the ladies entranve,trom which a stair to the next floor leads. On this floor are situated seventeen large and well lighted bedrooms and bath room.

On the third floor which is not yet com- pleted are eight more bedrooms overlook- ing the beautiful Colville Bay. The floors of the dining room and office, laid in tiling patterns with narrow stained and oiled eoft wood, are very unique,

The building throughout is heated with hot air. Souris can now boast of one of the best appointed hote!s in the Province; aod the crusine department in charge of Mrs. Cox which have had more than a province al reputation in the past, promises to be even better in the tutare.

“There is an entire absence of law pro tecting the army uniforma,”’ observed an army officer to a reporter, ‘‘and, peculiar as it may seem, it is not a violation of law, military or civil, for any unauthorized person to wear the uniform of an officer or soldier. In other words, it would not vio late any law if any one paraded the streets attired in the full military uniform of a general, colonel or other officer. In Eu- rope it is entirely different, and if an un- authorized person publicly wore the uni- form of an army or naval) officer without authority he would be gobbled up, stripped of his military or naval fixings and would have a long stay in prison for his offense.

‘*There ia a brass band in New York city each member of which wears a full general’s uniform, with the stars on the shoulders, and some of the national guard of that city tried to have it abolished un- der existing law, but they failed to do so. The Grand Army badge and button, as also the badge of the Union Veteran le- gion and the Regular Army and Navy union and of the Mexican Veterans’ union are protected to some extent by law in that the regulations of the army and navy provide that those entitled to them can wear them on certain official occasions, but even they are not as fully protected by law as they should be.

‘*The same absence of protection, legal protection, I mean, exists in relation te wearing the medal of honor awarded by congress, and it is known that certain per- sons have medals of that kind and have worn them without the authority of con- gress. The bow of the American Legion of Honor is, however, provided for by law, and it is a violation of law for any un- authorized person to have or wear it.’’— Washington Star.
