Pilot H. S. Jones made an em- ergency fllght to the Magdalen Islands yesterday morning in re- sponse to a call from the Gulf Is- lands. He was informed by radio that an 80-year old resident of Bryan Island, had broken his hip in a fall on Sunday. It was neces- sary that the man should be moved to the Grindstone ~land Hospital. which was about 80 miles away.

A dragon 1 me left here at 10.16, about an hour after the call for help was received, and landed ivitn considerable difficulty in a field on Bryan Island. A medical doctor had been picked up Grindst.ne Island.

After receiving medical aid his home the victim was taken to the wailing plane on a handsleigh and flown to the hospital. There are only a. few families on Brvan Island and communication with other Islands of the group is very difficult during the winter months.

(CAPTAIN) WALLACE “acLEOD —Many friends were grieved to learn of the sudden passing of Mrs. Mac- Leod, wife of Captain Wallace Mac- Leod of French River. who died in the Prince Count-v Hospital in thc early hours of Sunday morning. Mrs. MacLeod had been visiting with her daughter. Mrs. Henry Bishop of Summerside, to be near her husband. who was in charge of a dredge ".".1lCh is laid up at the Marine Wharf at Summerside. Mrs. MacLeod had been out on Satur- day afternoon apparently in her usual good health, but took s/ud- denly ill rn the evening and was taken to the hospital where she lingered until about four o'c'ock on Sunday morning. Mrs. Mac- Leod was 60 years of age and was Amelia Stewart daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Anthony Stew- art of Hench River. She was a ‘staunch Presbyterian and well and favourably known in the settle- 'ment round French River. especi- ally for her kindness to those in affliction or flhealth. Besides her grief stricken husband she leaves to mourn one son, Ralph and two daughters. Helen and Mrs, Henry Bishop. Also one brother, Mr John Stewart Brookfield, P. E. I. and two sisters. Mrs. F. W. Can- non St, Eleanors and Mrs. T. E. Dunning, Somervillc illass, to all of whom much sympathy is ex- tended.
