MEETING OF CREDITORS.

In accordance with the order of Mr. Justice Peters, a meeting of the Creditors of the Bank of P. E. {sland, the Bank Building, to day About forty gentlemen were present and F. W. Hales, Esq 5 occupied the chair. A statement of busiuess dene by the Liquidators, was amonnting to $19] ,422 46. of which, $61,- 170.70 is cash now on hand.

The metion was oppesed by Messre. Slopgett, L. H. Davies, P. Con- nolly atid others, on the ground that it would involve a great expense to no good end. George Bear, E:q., said it would be impossible to tell when The Bank became insolvent, as it was impossible now t>#ay what the value of the assets of the Bank Waa in years cone by.

H. J. Cunda!l said, that ia bis “opinion, the Bank was insolvent eighteen months or two years before the suspension; and had been kept floating by the money drawn froin Other banks. Hen. L. C. Owen said that the liquidators could not find that. the directors had been guilty of any mis- appropriations. C. ©. Gardner, Esq. , said that except for taking commission m a loan guaranteed by them, he thought there was nothing against the Directors, but their ure gence and gareleasvess. Hon. L. H. Davies said the Directors had consulted leading lawvera with respect to the extradition of the Cashier, and had been advised that it was impossible under the Extradition Treaty.

Dr. MeNeill withdrew his resclution.

Mr. Sloggett suggested that some means

migh t be adopted for divid ling equitably the Bank among the |

remaining assets of the creditors. Some of the creditors thight be! glad to take shxres in a ship and other | preperty might be divided.

A very interesting list of debtors to the Bank wes then read, and some lively cam- ments were made; but befare publishing either the list or the comments, we must | consult our legal adviser.

As we go to press the discussion is still | proceeding.

In West Kent Street School, the number of pupils on the roli was 434, and the per- | centage of attendance 71. The highest percentage was attained in Miss McKin- non’s department, which reached 83, nearly. Good results have been obtained in all the departments during the year. Mr. J. D. Seaman €was, toward the close of the term,

appointed Vice-Principal of the school. Cost (exclusive of salaries and interest on cost of building), $802.99.

The accounta of the Board show that the expenditure for the school year ended 30th June, 1882, was $9,245. 46.

The fire alarms during the year numbered seven:—MeDongall & Seaman’s Carriage Factory, entirely destroyed; Cooper's workshop, on Lord's Wharf, extinguished without the Fire Brigade; Thomas Taylor's house, completely burned; Dr. Murray's stable consumed, and George Webster’s workshop partially burned; Patrick Lough- ran’s dwelling, destroyed, and James Landrigan’s dwelling, destroyed.

There are in vonnection with the De- partment, eight cisterns, each of which is estimated to contain about 15,000 gallons.

The Steam Fire Engines have both been thoroughly repaired, and are reported in “good working condition,”

Tremont Company has been disbanded, and Capt. F. H. Beer has been commis- Sioned to enrol a new company to consist of cwenty members.

The lease of the plot of the Depot on Grafton Street, being about to terminate, the Chief Engineer advises the purchase, if possible, of the property owned and ocenpied by the widow of the Iate W. B. Allan.
