It seems hard to believe, but a year has gone by and it's time again to practice your owl hooting! On March 13 (weather permitting) two groups will go out, armed with recordings of owls and strong voices, and try to see some owls. Dan McAskill will lead one outing (outside of Charlottetown) and Gary Schneider will lead the other on the Baldwin Road close to Montague. Last year's prowls were hurt by the poor weather, but in 1986 they were quite successful, with a very good look at a barred owl and other calls including great horned owls. The owl prowls will begin at 7 p.m. this year and depending on attendance, may include snowshoeing and skiing if you are so inclined. Any interested hooters can sign up at the Feb. 2 or March 1 NHS meetings, or call Dan at 569-4351 or Gary at 838—2678. _ 11 _
