David Gallant is a stud— 'ent in the one— year Educa- tion programme. He brings little experience to this post other than that most important type— four years at this university.

He is interested in att— empting to make profs more responsible to the students. In order to do this he would attempt to reduce the amount of paperwork and other sec- ondary things which the prof must do, giving him more' time for students. Secondly, he would penalize profs for, for example, showing up an hour and a half late for a class without notice.

Another area of major con- cern to him is lessening the alienation of one faculty or deapartment from the others. In order to do this, he would hold social functions which crossed lines rather than Gfiés which stayed within them.For example, a huge bash between the Education Faculty and the Engineering Department could be held.

Finally,he would ask that you vote for the candidate of your choice on the basis

David MacRae is a Junior Arts student. To this job he brings the experience of a year on the Cadre plus.hav— ing attended most of the _ Council'and Senate meetings of last year. This, he feels is more than sufficient back— ground for the position, since it gives him a 'feel' for happenings on campus.

He is interested in rais- ing a variety of issues on Senate: Most important is the fact that there is no student input into course content, nor professor qual— ity at the department level. In other words students have no say in what will be taughg who will teach it,and how it will be taught.

Secondly,Senate communi- cates far too little with students. He will endevor to change this through the med- ium of the Cadre, amapg 0th- er ways.

He also feels that stu- déhts on Council and Senate have too long acted as part of a social Committee and ' that this should be changed, some real issues discussed.

He wants to have better contact between students and their representatives. One method he suggests to attain this is to have "pep rallies' or mass meetings in the Barn and in the residencesy

He doesn't want to make a lot of promises but his ma— jor concern is to have much better contact between the reps and the students. He doesn't want to push only' for his ideas but for those of all students.
