I am of opini- on that the protection will prove effectual against ox- plosiori. Nothing short of this conviction would in- duce me to cotintemtnce the continued use of the burning ﬂuids, so called, asl have thought they ought to lie entirely discarded, if not proliihited from use; so frequent and droridful are the iiccitleiits occa- sioned by ignornnco and carelessness. In every case, glass lamps should be given up; and those of instal substituted, on account of the danger of fracture.
